You don’t have to feel bloated anymore!


Probably like many of you, I had a heavy weekend. And I’m not a sprightly teenager anymore, or even a sprightly early twenty something, so the effect of these kind of weekends tend to linger more than they used to. So what did I do to tackle the after effects of my heavy weekend, you ask? Here’s some advice from someone with a gluten intolerance and is well versed in how to get rid of that bloated feeling.

– Cut down on gluten. Now if you’re not actually gluten intolerant or coeliac, then cutting out gluten completely can make you allergic or ill. However, most people eat more gluten that they should, which can lead to bloating in most people. So keep it down.

– Drink lots of water. Enough said 

– Ginger- This root is well known to have amazing anti-inflammatory properties. On a hangover, I would recommend ginger tea- you simply have to cut and peel ginger and boil it in some water- you can strain it and add lemon juice or drink it as it is. Side note- also helps with nausea. 

– Turmeric- Who hasn’t heard of this? Use it in a soup or a smoothie, or you can even get your hands on some turmeric tablets from any health store. 

– Milk Thistle- this is a beaut. Commonly used for over indulgence and has anti-inflammatory properties and can also be used to detox the liver. Perfect. You can use the tablets, but I use the drops, which you just add to some water. 

Finally, sometimes there’s nothing for it but to take off your jeans and have a lie down.
