Foods that say NO to cancer

We’re all aware of the dreaded ‘C’ word, but not enough of us are aware of what foods we can eat to lower the risks of this deadly disease. It’s really not just a case of quitting smoking though. There are numerous charities like Cancer Research UK who are doing remarkable things to raise money to fund research so we’re able to understand more and more how to tackle this nasty illness. Many of these charities strongly encourage us to follow a healthy diet. It goes without saying really, but we are what we eat!

Here are a bunch of cancer-fighting foods you ought to eat more of:

Munch on some blueberries, raspberries, cherries, blackberries, strawberries or goji berries. These juicy treats are bursting with vitamin C, vitamin A and gallic acid which do wonders for boosting immunity. They also contain high levels of proanthocyanidin antioxidants which are great at tackling free radical damage.

Cruciferous Vegetables:

Cruci-what? Cruciferous veggies include broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts (see, they aren’t just for Xmas) and cabbage. They are fantastic sources of vitamin C and many contain high levels of glutathione, a phenomenal antioxidant.

Leafy Greens:

Add some spinach, kale, watercress or collard greens to your diet. They are very high in antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins and minerals and have low levels of toxins. These clever leaves, containing inactive carcinogens, are also able to help reprogram cancer cells to die off.

This bright orange-coloured spice, traditionally used in curries, contains curcumin which has the ability to help shrink tumours. Curcumin is particularly good at combating breast and colon cancer.

Unrefined Oils:

We strongly recommend you replace refined or hydrogenated oils with coconut, flax, cod or extra virgin olive oils. Unrefined oils like these improve your immunity, instead of triggering inflammation and cell congestion.

Obviously there are many more super anti-cancer foods out there, but of course we can’t cover them all. Now the ball’s in your court, why not whizz some of these fruits and veggies up in a blender and make a healthy ‘say NO to cancer’ smoothie. Trust us, you’ll feel miles better for doing it.
